Amygdala is a contemporary circus performance reflecting the human presence in the natural world; the artists recreate aspects of the changing earth using the materials and actions that are implicated in its change.
The In-Situ project adapts Amygdala to un-codified spaces, creating singular performances extrapolated from the show’s themes and content. Materials and bodies interplay with the environment to evoke a sense of mutual impact and evolutionary transformation.
During the piece, they construct and deconstruct geological and man-made forms in a continuous unfolding.
The materials are highly reactive to external conditions (airflow/humidity/temperature), and the public, walking inside the performance, reacts differently each time. This means the artists are in a constant negotiation with the limits of control over their work.
